RESPONSIBLE GROWTH
We hear a lot of discussion regarding growth is coming to Scioto Township and the Village of Commercial Point. The fact is growth is already here and well underway. Now is the critical time to address the array of positive and negative impacts and concerns for such growth.
Local government is ultimately responsible for the growth and sustainability of its community. The constituents and local businesses deserve and require us to be held to a standard of leadership that ensures a sustainable and positive outcome of such growth. This means there must be open dialogue and cooperation within all local governmental entities. This includes Scioto Township Board of Trustees, Village of Commercial Point, Teays Valley Local School District, State and Pickaway County officials, as well as the developers responsible for the growth. The efforts by all parties must be transparent and working in a frame of trust with the constituents of the community. This requires having the best long term interest and responsibility for the betterment and sustainability of our community.
Growth has several impacts on the environmental, economic, and social components of our community. Although growth is inevitable for our community, we must lead the growth in a way that doesn’t compromise the integrity of our current and future residents and our community in a negative manner.
